
"EPEYONON" The Homecomer
Opened on 6th January 2024, this Exhibition explored the intersection of modernity and cultural heritage in Karamoja, delving into the impact of identity, questioning its nuances and exploring the role of contemporary art in influencing cultural heritage. A culmination of a 3 months collaborative project facilitated by Evans Akanyijuka, Kiggundu Rodney and Murungi Kevin joined by over 12 participants. The exhibition serves as a platform for artists to weave modernity into Karamoja's rich cultural tapestry creating dialogues that redefine the concept of modernity in contemporary times and reconcile their own connection to home. METAMORPHOSIS - Edition 1
METAMORPHOSIS - EDITION 1 transcends visual appeal highlighting the dynamic process of becoming, transforming raw talent into refined artistry. On 25th January 2025, visitors were invited to witness and interact with the 2024 apprentices' diverse interpretations of change, resilience and adaptation expressed through different mediums. Metamorphosis is a celebration of transformation, growth and creative evolution. A culmination of a year long journey of exploration and apprenticeship at Kiggundu Art Studio. A reflection of the profound changes by apprentices as they discovered, honed and expressed their artistic voices. Each of their pieces tells a story of perseverance, self discovery and new found confidence.
